Homer Memorial Hospital was established by the Homer Board of Selectmen as a living memorial to those men who made the supreme sacrifice during World War II. The hospital first opened its doors on July 14, 1949 operated by the Louisiana Baptist Convention.
In 1966 under the administration of Mr. Glen Bays, the hospital was expanded to include more rooms and provide additional services.
In 1988, a major renovation project updated the hospital giving it a fresh, more modern appearance.
In 2007 Inpatient rooms were renovated to include new beds, furniture, flat-screen TV, new bathroom fixtures, wood flooring and fresh paint.
In 2008, a 5000 square foot state of the art Emergency Room was constructed. Upon completion of the new ER, the previous emergency area was renovated to become a dedicated outpatient/visiting physician clinical area.
